Graduate and doctoral studies in Ukraine in 2014

State Statistics Service released information on graduate and doctoral studies in the Ukraine in 2014. Statistics data does not not include temporarily occupied Crimea. Data on Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts are to be defined.

The following illustrates the main figures in the regions, separately for institutions and the number of graduate students and doctoral candidates.

Historically the largest scientific center of the country is its capital – Kyiv. The second scientific potential (if the focus is on quantitative) holds Kharkiv, followed by Lviv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.

In 2014 in Ukraine 7597 people finished graduate school (including 1881 people with dissertation). Also 524 people finished doctoral studies (including 143 defended a thesis).
